Friends Passing Through

She heard a sound
As she sat on the cold floor
And tunred to see
Who had come through the door.

“Would you like some coffee?”
He smiled and said.
What a nice Man!
Was the first thought in her head.

As she sat at her desk
The very next day,
She wondered who the attractive man was
That had come her way.

Nearly a year after that first meeting
They became co-workers at night.
A friendship began to grow
That felt so right.

Even then
They were quite reserved
Talked some about their relationships,
But nothing inappropriate occurred.

She was happy in her marriage
So everyone thought
But should the truth be known
She was quite distraught.

As time passed
A feeling began to grow
An attraction to this man
Much more than he would know.

This was new to her
Because for so long,
She was unhappy, but faithful
And life went on.

She changed jobs then
And didn’t see this shy man.
She missed the friendship
That had only just begun.

Fate had brought them together
And now though buildings apart,
The friendship grew through e-mail
As did a deep connection in the heart.

They became Best Friends, then lovers,
Though it was wrong,
But now they were Soul Mates
The need was strong.

He taught her love
And passion she never knew.
He gave her the courage to do
What she needed to do.

She ended that unhappy marriage
And walked out one day.
He gave her confidence in herself
Supported here every step of the way.

Then it was his turn
For trials of the heart.
His wife chose a different lifestyle,
He chose to part.

Now he needed her support
As his Best Friend.
And she was there for him,
Through thick and thin.

They had a bond, a Love,
She believed was so strong
But in reality,
She was so wrong.

Turbulent barely describes
The next few years,
She cried and cried
A billion tears.

She still loves him,
There’s nothing more true.
He had shown her the way,
He had helped her get through.

She reflects on that friendship
And the nearly five years that have passed.
Has the need for each other gone away
Or is this a bond that will truly last?

She wonders what keeps them together today,
Or if any of it was true.
They are Soul Mates no more,
Were they just Friends passing through?

Welcome Deb.  A captivating story of some truthful and trying moments in a life...  Makes me ponder the complexity of this existence and social conditionings...
