In prisons of a clouded mind
haunt visions of a gentler time
before the Hand that laid to waste
resided in this land.

Tha ravages of time and place
lie heavily upon the face
of land and people so supressed
by that hated Hand.

Then unto this harried land there came
a youngling, man, in all but name
and looked upon the sadness there
caused by that awful Hand.

Soon there came a time of strife
little hurts inflicted to Hands' life
things disappear and appear again
as if out of thin cold air.

It wasn't just these mysteries
but these and other piracies
that caused the Hand to soon demand
the capture of this thief.

The soldiers searched throughout the land
they feared to fail the hated Hand
but none would claim to know the thief
none knew the youngling man.

The Hand resorted to witchery
when failed all his bribes and trickery
and soon with magic so arcane
they knew the youngling man.

In dark of night they set to find
this youngling man in witches mind
and brought him now to face the Hand
his fate soon all to know.

They beat him with a knotted whip
'til in his very blood they slipped
still, rose he to stand alone
defiant to the end.

Legend has, his ghost lives on
to taunt the Hand before the dawn
and drive warped mind far past insane
and mighty house to bedlam.

And on some nights when moons aglow
if to the whipping post you go
you might just see said youngling man
dancing on soft air.

I believe, that there are meanings that go far beyond the legend here...things that require a second look.  I really enjoyed this read, my twin...a very enticing read!! ~S~

This was very good and I agree that there's several meanings to this.
