To see the wall and look beyond
and know the hope of future there.
To see the pain in softened frond
and know the pitfalls of despair.
With healing eyes you see so much
and those in need will feel your touch

To hear the cry of one in need
responding boldly to her call -
it makes you more than friend indeed
to see the hope beyond the wall
and harkening, you show you care
to those in shadows waiting there

To feel the pain in anxious cost;
to reach and burn and reach again -
keep holding on to teach the lost
and live and learn through other's pain.
In this, you take pride in your call
to succour those caught by the fall

To reach a heart and turn it round;
to wander boldly mid the stark
and hold for those, the higher ground
you lift them up to make your mark.
In all these things you can excel.
They rise above, - your heart does well

To hold the gift of life in trust
and keep on going midst the fear
and do the things you know you must
and yet still grieve or shed a tear
to carry on beyond the pale
and do it all, lest others fail

For this, my friend is your forte
your torch is carried to all life
and you ensure the world's okay
although enmeshed in troubled strife.
Within, you sense this cannot last
but healing grows where you have passed

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth,
To you and all our CPS workers a wish for you for strength, courage, hope and an extra dose of love. Peace dear friend and well done.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

to see beyond, yes

but to FEEL the whole of it...that is where the heart and soul of this person resides

thank you for this piece, dear friend

Beautifully expressed and so accurate of
the feelings and emotions.  Sadly,  so
many organizations face budget constraints
and are often understaffed for the needs of
the community.

A job that requires great courage, tenacity
and compassion.

(big hugggssssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, now you have me flooding in tears because this is sooooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, I work once a month at the Denver Rescue Mission and I do much volunteer work for bi-lingual children in Boulder, as I believe children are our future and we need to love them and teach them the values of love and comfort so they can bring hope to our future and also because children are so cute and precious! (sigh) You shine with pure compassion in this write, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lynne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

And they don't get near the recognition, nor PAY they so deserve...then we dare criticize when something goes wrong...seems we want it both ways huh?

I like the rhyme scheme in this one. I always like your rhymes, you know. I admire the people who do this, there aren't very many when considered against the need. I could never do the job, and it takes a special person to be able to. As a note on the rhyme, however, you've rhymed 'life' and 'strife', and I hear that one too many times. Give me a different one there, Keth.

Nan,
I can rhyme life with fyffe, and rife and knife. I can even, with a push, rhyme life with tripe, however in this instance life and strife seemed to love each other and belong together. *smile

Somehow 'life' and 'tripe' don't seem like such a reach.
