~

Sitting in the choir loft of the Trinity Nazarene,
The offering and altar call defined the final scene.
A maze of hallelujahs and a sea of waving hands,
A call to sing “Just As I am,” the congregation stands.

“O Lamb of God,” the words rang clear, as she stepped to the aisle.
Her eyes welled up and filled with tears, oh my, its been a while.
“I come, I come,” she whispered low as she made her way down.
Her reasons why, no one could know, except for Cletus Brown.

“O Sweet Jesus, bless this child,” the Reverend did pray
“Come, kneel with me, don’t be afraid, for all of us have strayed.”
Ol’ Cletus, he was pondering and feared what she might say,
His woman was confessing to his wife, Miz Hallie Mae.

Now typically, most conceivably, the prayers would be for healing
But on this day, Reverend Hallie Mae, she had a funny feeling
When all was done, his goose was cooked, the woman had come clean
Her sins had been repented at the Trinity Nazarene.
