Listening to every heart

Questioning self

I pose a query
                          to this self
in spare moments

introspection, you know,
     being the tool that it is

finding faults, here, and there
           with my memory

some days
wanting to slow things down
                     so I retrospect
                                 to times even I do not know,
                     except in my mind,

then praising the being
                                 that pulls me to you
in a blink.

here, I question too much

purpose
space
time
perhaps even quantum physics

most certainly,
worth

a voice saying my voice
does not matter

other voices saying
that it does

                          I am not the artist, nor would
                                 I think to be
for I wear not the attire
                 nor tread that oh-so-liberal stance

but still…

this desire to explore the consequences
of actions by laying black,
against white,

no graying of thought, an absolute conviction
of what might lay inside…

to expose

a heart

a soul

self
