Marine Layer It has the wrong name, the sound hard, disconcerting, like a metal shroud rolling ashore from the sea... It is worse, really: It creeps in, bringing a chill, as gray clouds block the sunshine. ....for a friend, with sorrow for something I can't define. James A.
