Tonight, love,
hide all distractions.
Snuff out all your cigarettes.
Clear the room of any music.
I'll help you put away the dishes,
dry the table, sweep the floor,
take the garbage to the curb.

That done, follow me outside.
Lock the door and, by my side,
hand in hand walk softly by
the frozen glass-edge of the Bow.
Carburn, cold, white-bright with snow.
The huddled, sleeping gazebo.
Our path will saunter to the woods.

Tonight, love,
follow deep.
The stars and moon
will grow with light
and clarify the black-blue sky
as though the empty, quiet night
were infinite and bright,
magnified on a slide.

Without distraction, I will speak
my love to you, here with you,
when two mouths warm in every breath,
I feel immortal, without fear.

This is why I asked you here
without sounds or sights or tastes
or touches beyond those we make.
Our words alone this moment takes.

oh my oh my...
those verses above stand on their own,
such poetically exquisite phrasing and expression...classically beautiful expressions.
and that last verse...that last line...
poetry in its purest form.

"If you see lonely, clear skies turning stormy ...
Lightning strikes and all you see is blue ... this is me missing you"

Thank you. Writing love poetry is usually my cure for depression.

wow, you hopeless romantic you...what a beautiful way of putting it, love, hide all distractions, i really love how you incorporated the toils of everyday life into it. love really does take us away from all that.

and even when everything was wrong, and we were mad at the world, it was still beautiful.

My goodness, Mike, I knew that you could write, but I didn't know that you could write love poetry this way. This hopeless romantic loves it!! I hope that you don't have to get depressed to do it, but I sure do hope that you write some more of these love poens. Absolutely beautiful, this is!!
