My body’s got the message baby, my souls just gotta move, an’ sometimes when that music starts to play that lowdown groove, it seeps way down inside of me, crawls in and sits right down, my eyes close down all over it, ohhh, them blues’s come to town. Baby, take off yo’ coat real slow. Baby, Take off yo’ shoes, yeah I’ll take off yo’ shoes Baby, take off that vest yes, yes, yes. You can leave yo’ hat on you can leave yo’ hat on I’m cradl’n them deep grooves that’s in my soul tight to my chest, I loves good mornin’ blues, baby, climb your eyes up on my breast, an’ roll yourself all over me, yes sir, we gots blues to chew, theys messin’ with the blues’n my eyes, singin’ , ‘I’m too blue to rescue.’ Go on over there Turn on the light no - all the lights. Come back here stand on that chair yeah, that’s right. Raise yo’ arms up, up, in the air now shake ‘em. You give me reason to live - you give me reason to live Get nose-to-nose an’ hip-to-hip, an' hold on tight, don’t let nothin’ slip, I gots the blues for you so bad, you makes that steel thang wail an’ dip, I’m pitched smooth back and smilin’, my blue eyes all bended'n flat, I hear you singin’, ‘It must be jelly baby, cause jam don’t shake like dat.’ Suspicious minds are talkin’, they’re tryin’ to tear us apart They say that my love is wrong, They don’t know what love is - they don’t know what love is I, I, I know what love is. Them bayou blues can do it, yeah, them delta songs's my c’mon, my minds wrapped ‘round you, baby, singin’, ‘You can leave yo’ hat on,’ theys somethin’ ‘bout me’n blues I know, I’ll tell you this fo’ true, keeps messin’ with me, an' makes the blues’n my eyes a bluer hue. Sweet darlin' - you can leave yo’ hat on - You can leave yo’ hat on baby - you can leave yo’ hat on – ~ . ~ Note: "You Can Leave Yo' Hat On" lyrics by Randy Newman, sung by Joe Cocker, Tom Jones, Etta James (my favorite) and many others. Hello MorninGlory Your words captivated me from beginning to end and left me with a big smile on my face. The way you wrote was fabulous and I'll look forward to reading more of your work. The song "You Can Leave Your Hat On" always reminds me of the movie "The Full Monty." Take care........Sue I am in motion |

(giggles in delight) Oh my gosh, I agree with what Sue said in her comment sooooooo much, that song also reminds me of "The Full Monty" as well as "Chicago". (kiss on cheek) Joe Cocker is quite the man, "With The Help Of My Friends" is one of my favorites also, this is one groovy blues tune, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

Thank you for your comments, I too love Joe Cocker's version of this song, but my favorite is Etta James, it takes me somewhere I love to go.. something about blues, I just climb right in. Thank you again! ~ becky |
