The Gift You Gave
By Larry Chadwick
To both my daughter and my dad...

I need not mourn in memory of you,
For I find in our past no regret.
Nor need I forget the truth,
As I learn from it and yet…

It is pieces of our puzzle made,
That a picture I might recall.
And with all the parts of our past,
I find the clearest picture of all.

So not with fear or dread of past,
I look back to what we shared.
For it is there that I find strength,
From all the things for which we dared.

And now I face today with courage strong,
Because of what together we had learned.
Not denying the pain from which I’ve cried,
But looking forward to the future I have earned.

When my time on earth is done,
It is what you gave that I have shared.
In honor of you may others recall,
That we both have truly cared.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ron,
Kind words that have more meaning from a man so well respected. Thank you.

Vicky,
Thank you kind lady. Always.

Geoffrey,
Wow. That means a lot to me. There is much pain absorbed in the history of this poem. Thank you.

Karilea,
A lot of memories packed into today. I joined PiPs two years ago yesterday. And when watching the memorials things today I was flooded with memories of my own. My friends here have made so much difference to me I can't even express in adequate words how much it has meant. And you are one of the brightest lights of all. Thank you.

Sir James,
Sorry I haven't been around much. It is so nice to see you. And thank you for your gentle heart.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

M,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

JM,
I followed the best. And, thanks to you, I wear them with pride. You're the best.

Kacy,
It's the least I could do for the camel bikini. Besides, for you anything.

froggy,
You fit in here so well. Welcome and thank you so much.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
