I felt a kicking inside me
and I had no place to go--
recently, I'd minimized
and packed a nap-sack I called home.

Simple practicality-
jeans, some slacks, a blouse, a "tee"--
Keynote of simplicity--
with a stash of some high heels.

Always something just in case
insomnia would lead to pace--
loose tobacco and a place
that held the Book of books.

I walked the soles of shoes too thin--
I read the books and read again
I crawled in spaces never meant
too dark for much enlightenment.

I felt a kicking inside me.
I had a need to build a nest.

I should start collecting twigs....
A nest, how well that pertains to all things.

and you have and will again . . .
'cept next time there will be no dark spaces
(this made me feel like I was in the womb)
Beautiful writing, always Karen and this is just ahhhhhh . . . so right:

I walked the soles of shoes too thin--
I read the books and read again
I crawled in spaces never meant
too dark for much enlightenment.

Dark and beautiful....exactly right for the speaker and the spoken. Excellent stuff.
