No man is an island, or at least that’s what I’ve heard,
I understand the concept, but I don’t believe a word.
I find this somewhat flawed you see, as I know differently,
for this man is an island, or at least he is to me.

He’s very independent, full of life’s vitality,
no corporation logos, no, that’s not his cup of tea,
he’d rather wear his blue jeans, he’d rather bale some hay,
he’d rather use his hands to work, he’s happier that way.

But really, what I mean to say, its in his touch each day,
its how he takes such pride in what I do and what I say,
and how he smiles and listens when I try to tell a joke,
he pleasures me so tenderly, a breathless love’s brushstroke.

Speaks always with sincerity, he soothes away my fears,
I cry watching old movies, and he wipes away my tears,
he doesn’t question where I’ve been, or where I’m going next,
he only asks if I’ve got gas and makes sure I’ve got checks.

And then at night, when light has gone, his feelings crystal clear,
he opens up his arms and pulls me close so I can hear
his whispers spoken softly, oh, they send me to the moon,
so loved I am by such a man, our beating hearts in tune.

His fingers brush across my skin, his kiss below my ear,
he swallows me within his warmth and gently strokes my hair.
We ride the tides each night to find our private ecstasy,
were I to die this very night, no place I’d rather be,

This man is his own island, or at least he is to me,
and I intend to spend my days within his boundaries,
I can’t conceive of leaving here, where all my needs are met,
I’ll spend my days quite satisfied, content within his net.
