If perchance that I should stray Across your path some autumn day, I’ll give a nod, “hello” will say, Then bid adieu; head on my way, For on life’s journey, I tread alone, As I have sins I must atone, I walk beyond what is not there, No star to guide, no luminaire, I seek beyond our mortal realm, Seeking solace; night’s overwhelm, And when at last comes Autumn’s fade, No longer shall I be afraid, I will pass ‘cross distant hills, My journey’s end, no more untils, I’ll tarry not to wave goodbye, And if perchance I catch your eye, Please forgive me for my stray, When once I passed across your way, For I am destined in my plight, To walk alone in search the night. In alone, wisdom is found, so says my grandfather, Also ways to say things nice, your poem, you found in lone. |
