The track is impaired now.
The onset of earlier sundowns
deem it with night blindness
ringed now my feet, in shadows,
as sun has narrowed into towns of western timezones.

This little one will have no choice this end of season
of  whether to fly to warmth or stay the snow;
he has lied for days now at the base of the joggers trail,
pulverized, smashed, without dignity, he died alone.

Below the hand of God , he lays anonymous,
even Potters Field does not embrace his soul.***

Nightly the news comes,
heard between laundry cycles
and dishes drying, as i go numb,
becoming human once more, i run,
along this track where death is marked.

Poor little sparrow,
a mothers child,
stranded,
does she even know?

stranded like stars,
without a hint of moon tonight,
and me,
circling the darkness
on the jogger's trail,
feeling it deeply,
all alone.

****Potter's Field, on April 20, 1869. Louisa Van Slyke, an orphan who died alone in Charity Hospital at the age of 24, became the first to be buried there.

Very sad, we recently had a small child die from being lfet in the car (didn't personally know them), another child got shot by someone on drugs(knew them), and a friend at the age of 28 died of cancer. It's been an agonzing week around here and one that needs to be relighted.Am working on a write and this reminded me of it.

Emotionally stirring poem. Your poetry always touches me--and in so many ways. At times I soar high; other times I sink low. Then there are times when I laugh--then there are times that I grow. But one thing is constant--I am always affected by your writing.

You got right to the heart of the matter, and to me.  This poem held me in its grip with wrenching emotions right to the very end.  I love it when you write with such emotion.  What a very sad tale this was, but extremely well done.

I don't want to know where I am heading, it will spoil my journey.

This reminded me of something..

Yesterday as I was opening the door a little baby lizard jumped on my hand.  It scared me and I instinctively (I don't have spell check on this) flung my hand and it went flying...poor thing..I felt such guilt...

I enjoyed this writing very much.

May I keep this one, Michele?
You've written this one straight from the heart and soul, and preserved the memory of another soul with great tenderness.
Beautifully done, my friend.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Michele, it is just terrible how some are left behind as orphans and they simply can't make it on their own forever, dearest friend, my heart cries out to this victim and many others of this isolation! (sad sigh) Your heart beams with compassion, dearest friend, I pray for all the children of the world, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michele, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Have a hard time myself with the concept of facing such times alone.
You did well in the convey of the emotions here...as always.
I think that God must give special attention in these cases, there must be many angels to escort these souls to eternity.
