There have been three main loves in my life And to each one I pose this big question Why is it that some men take true love for granted And focus on other obsessions? My first love loved nothing but cars I was young and I needed affection He’d spend every night in the cold dark garage With his car, working on his obsession! So, I took a chance once again Ended up with a budding musician After too many years on the road playing gigs I got tired of his music obsession… I guess I’mromantic at heart Or maybe a fool for rejection I tried the third time, thought I’d met Mr. Right But I find he, too, has his obsession… His main love in life are his dogs And to that I have no real objection But he spends his nights online with dog-loving friends And it looks like a growing obsession… I’m waking up cold and alone With a looming great cloud of dejection So, while he’s asleep, I’ve been conjuring up My own personal female obsession… I’m not really looking, you see But dreaming gives pleasant direction No harm in just wondering what my life would be like If for once I was someone’s obsession! I speak from the Voice Of Experience |

It can be very, very good -- especially if they're also your obsession....but if it's not shared, then you're in a drag race down a dead-end street.... I like the way you handled this poem, taking the meter and rhyme very seriously. That's how they should be done, if they're done. Obsessed poets, take note -- this lady can do it! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ [This message has been edited by Ratleader (08-05-2003 10:01 AM).] |

When we chose a lifetime companion, we forget to look for compatibility...all we know is that we love them deeply and at the time believe that their obsession with other activities will continue but perhaps not to the access as when they were single. We cannot ask them to change...or to give up their hobbies...but what we can do, is that when we meet someone...try to remember compatibility is very important...or...get a hobbie...become interested in things that we like to do....and when he is busy doing something he enjoys...instead of thinking they love us less...go and spend time writing...riding horses...arts and crafts, etc. Good thoughts to ponder. |

(ehemm . . . It's not just a male problem.) But of course you knew that. For one thing, this society has obsession and addiction written all over it. It's acceptable. Sorry that you haven't been the object, some guys would kill for it, ya know. Enjoyed the poem. s.a.g. |

LOL...sorry, but hasn't poetry been your obsession now and then? I'm not poking fun, seriously VOE...[maybe I am...LOL] but this is so cute as this very label has been applied to me and my "writing". Just know you made me smile, and wink, and say "hey, I understand!!!!" |

Hi VOE... I can relate. I had an ex-boyfriend that lived a fair distance from me. Whenever I could spare the time, I would get on the train and visit. Quite often I would spend the whole weekend looking at the back of his head as he played computer games or chatted on the internet. Surely there will be someone for us! ![]() Bec ![]() "Now, Harry you must know all about Muggles, tell me, what exactly is the function of a rubber duck?" ~ Arthur Weasley |

Just remember - the older the boy - the more expensive the toy. Just as long as his heart belongs to you, you can overlook his toys and games. Every once in a while, put him in his place, but men will be men. |
