+*+*+ From deepest slumber, I awoke last night, Steeped in longing, To be held tight. I reached across To cold side of bed, And touched where you, Once laid your head. In my mind's eye, I saw your face, Each line and contour, I could trace. My hands recalling, Your manly form, With only memories To keep me warm. I pulled your pillow, To my breast, To quell the yearning And my unrest. From deepest slumber, I awoke last night, Steeped in longing To be held tight. +*+*+ |
