Distant Memories
By Paul Wilson

There…in the distance a flickering light
far… far away but close enough to see
I feel it’s warmth shining on me tonight
as I cradle memories of you and me

All those wishes made on falling stars
we shared with each other over the years
A lifetime of dreams and flickering stars
are now replaced by an ocean of tears

Every time I see a dim light burning
your memory returns with a bright glow
I touch your memory with my heart yearning
as slowly from my eyes the tears flow

I’ll be so glad when this night is done
no more wishes upon falling stars anymore
I’ll lock away your memory with the coming sun
and set you free when the stars flicker once more

"To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you"

You think you’ll be able to lock away those memories,
I hope you can,
I’ve never been able to do it.
But if the quality of the poem is an indication
You might,
Good write

Paul~Beautiful poem and hope.

I am with the Gloomyone on this, I have tried in every way I know how and most the time no one can tell, but he haunts me.  Dreams, songs, poems, you name it.

Okay, done whining....geez

Even though fictional you put such heart and soul into this that it feels like reality. The despair, the sense of reliving memories, and the chance to let them go.You my friend touch the reader in ways not seen.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Paul, my heart feels for you, dearest friend, as a child I lived through intense depression and I think ever so much my head was being hollowed in to where I had no life to believe anymore so I put a black tapestry over the stars out my window, then I started to regret forsaking hope so made a vailiant effort to pertain to them again and it really is working this time around and I only bury the dead stars in the ocean below! (sigh) I send angel hugs your way, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

One thing about those darn memories, they seem to keep popping up when you least expect them - like next time that star appears.  Very nice Paul.
