Last night I walked twenty two years down a shivering beach to the sea.

----------------------------------------

Paper petals torn to the tide
sway to the beat of a thick dull wave,
threaten to drown with scoops of the moon-
disband their army. scatter.

She loves me.
Gently. Words on the breeze.
She loves me not.
The conch barely hears her.
She loves me.
Calling- crests of the sea.
She loves me not.
And now it rages.

She loves me.
Ancient. for I kept every letter.
She loves me not.
A seagull scream.
She loves me.
Smiling. A beautiful birthday
She loves me not.
Laughed at the card.

She loves me.
Now count how many remain.

Yes she loved me.
but never again.

These memories are so vivid and so poignant.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
