Cross-Cross Two will stand apart until one crosses over the other. In wrapped caress then, they are pulled together. A ballet of loops, infinite in direction, quick and agilely performed and presto! a child learns to tie his shoes. © 2003 Core |

As simple as that. And in this simplicity, I have to sigh...and realize that Velcro has taken over the act of manipulating the first task in life...the simple act of tying one's shoes. |

Yes, exactly, Sunshine! It is the milestone of one of the first grown up tasks. Thought of this while I was volunteering in my daughter's class this morning and noticed her perpetually untied shoes. Sigh. She knows how, just doesn't give a hoot. Thanks! Core |

I can remember my father's large hands, manipulating my little fingers up and over, around and through, and this is how we tie our shoes... and now I do the same with my grandchildren. When they're not wearing velcroed anythings... |

Corrine, isn't it odd how things change? Learning to tie one's own shoes used to be one of the first things children were so proud of. Now, most of them have the velcro thingys, no shoe strings. A good poem, lady. Hugs Ethel |
