Just for fun... been too busy to write much lately. Peace - Murder of None ©2003 C.G. Ward silence developed while parting her hair with a remark proving more foolish, than vain. ‘open up your smile,’ she sighed (-again-). I did, but an echo never mirrors fear. oh, for the days of brooding. melancholy is an art, I found. but only in moments, and never steadfast enough to find peace. - or any other emotion touted by the seven-pm sitcom. so we joined Odysseus and commented on the depths of a nothingness others claimed profound. - sitcom again, I think. oh the joy of complacency... we took a bow, for nothing really, other than a prickle of arrogance striking at the moment of climax. do finales come in threes? it was quiet in the theatre, so she laughed at my tears; seems they didn't mesh with her paradigm... whatever the hell that means. the audience wept, laughed, then rose as one to race for intermittent concessions... sporadic misery. elusive. conclusive. mesmerizing: translucent. kings and queens danced – Tyler took the stage, she evaporated, and I wondered at the beauty of solitude. translucent, I think. rise. bow. depart. as the silent jaws of a dragon crunch the cricket, I whisper goodbye. |

melancholy is an art, I found. but only in moments, and never steadfast enough to find peace. It's been a while, and it's just grand to read you again! Please don't be saying good-bye just for fun. I've missed your work Christopher, and this was a welcome comeback! |

hmmmmm - vellly intellesting *mom hat* And where the hell have you been mister?! You're grounded! Honestly? I don't know why I bother replying this early in the morning, I mean, I can hardly function as a human - and then I try to write something meaningful?? sigh Well, at least you know me well enough to know what I meant to say. *chuckle* Okay, so, I won't bother with the "well done" "good write" blah blah blah, because you know what I think about that - BUT - I'll point out some lines that I found particularly striking: "oh, for the days of brooding. melancholy is an art, I found. but only in moments, and never steadfast enough to find peace." This is great - melancholia is such an art form, and it's savored by so many. I often wonder if it's a more desired state of mind than happiness or contentment. The whole statement speaks a lot, and I could write for days about it, but won't. *laughing* (not enough coffee) (chuckling at seven-pm sitcom) "oh the joy of complacency..." Wow - the tone I read this in, totally laced with sarcasm. But not 'that' sarcasm, that kind of resigned sarcasm, sort of like when it can't be changed? Make sense? (yeah, thought not) "it was quiet in the theatre, so she laughed at my tears; seems they didn't mesh with her paradigm... whatever the hell that means." This last stanza made me chuckle and smile. Whatever the hell that means, indeed. Your writing has changed so much over the years, and I'm glad to say that I've seen the whole transition. It's been quite fascinating (of course, it's YOU ... heh) BOL Hugs, love Nic |

The analogies you used to express the emotions are cleverly done and made the poem. silence developed while parting her hair with a remark proving more foolish, than vain. how cool is that...waaaay cool melancholy is an art, I found. but only in moments, and never steadfast enough to find peace. and that........ wow....I love that lil verse of poetic profundity. Me thinks I need that one tatooed on me somewhere. lol So good to read you again Chris..have missed you round here. Hope life is treating you well, or at least inspiring you well. Its been a million years since I touched you |

Hey you. The prodigal poet just walks in here and seemingly tosses one off casually, and then says "What?" in innocence. can't pick a favorite line. (All of your lines have always been GOOD.) *wince* I wait for that brotherly "frog" on the arm now. But truly? Thanks for bringing me to the show C. You've been missed. |

Hey all, thanks for the kudos and kindness. Time is not my friend lately, being as rare as the fabled loch ness monster. I pause here and there to poke my head in for a read, but appreciate moments like this, when have a few more minutes. Again, thanks all... C |
