I remember when we were kids—
It doesn’t seem too long ago—
We had good times together,
A good friendship began to grow!

I remember running with you,
And all the laughs and smiles we shared—
None of the times by myself
To the moments with you compared…

But yet, if I had a choice
I know I could not go back,
Because I’ve learned so many things,
Where before I was in lack.

So today I look back with smiles,
And thank you for the times we had,
Then look forward to the future
With a heart prepared and glad;

And each moment, given by God,
With all of my life I will seize,
And after the moment is through
I’ll thank you for the memories.

Ben, this is beautiful
you keep such a positive attitude . . .
this would be hard for me to let go of
even though I know . . . the last stanza is lovely

This was actually written for more than one friend... There are so many people I have shared pleasent memories with. And I'm realizing that we're not kids anymore!

I write sad poems sometimes, but even those I tend to end with a positive note. I guess I try to see the good out of life,even when I'm discouraged.
