Sunday Afternoon, Southern Cal

I could sit all day
under this orange tree
pretending to write poetry
and waiting for a fruit to drop,
so I could pretend to be
the citrus Newton, and like him
pretend to have realized
—oops, just now—
something of gravity.

Or I may eat it and keep writing.

Ed...Sounds pretty relaxing, and juicy. While you're at it you could hold the hose and pretend to water.  You're cute!

....yep, but don't go under a fig tree barefoot -- it's like a sweetened dog park.....

I know...my Mom and Dad have a fig tree...
it was  really bad  with all
the rain we had.

Try writing with a fishing pole, you could do two lines at once...

Well done Rat...I had a little dog once, my daughter named him Benji cuz he looked just like Benji from all the movies....and also had a military/Vietnam trained German Shepard.....Well, Benji wasn't afraid of anything, (when the German Shepard was around)...except for gravity....he would chase, growl, attack the most vicious sparrow and those killer squirrels...the squirrels would run up the tree, a pine cone would fall, scare the living "chit" outta benji...he would run up under the German Shepard with his tail between his legs, the German Shepard would let out a long drawn out sigh and go back to sleep...

Ratleader - sounds like a place I need to be right now. Keep writing and eat that fruit, your poetry is enjoyable reading...
