In the quarry of my ponder, where I chip away each day I pray to find what’s missing in my soul that slipped away With hope I dig for hours, just to reap no found reward But think of moments still to come, that I can dig toward There’s a mound a size so mighty, that’s more daunting than elate Afraid; I feel my efforts make no hole and search too late For rocks the size of boulders stand to block my shovels way The gold dust that I once had found, I’ve spent with every day Through granite I am picking, as my hands they start to bleed The treasure that allures, is the treasure that I need The broken edges open up the demons from within My quarries filled with ponder and a darkened side of sin But at it I just chip away and try with hope to find The piece of gold I’m longing for and time that treats me kind …………………………………………………………… My tomb of self is lonely, buried deep; so deep within I mine each day to only mark the places to begin If I succeed, I’ll share with voice, the words I dare not speak For light will fill the shadowed hell that made a mountain weak And I might find a piece of peace amongst the blood and tears Some gentleness and harmony to help me through the years ………………………………………………………………………………………………….. My ponder is a quarry, packed with inner thoughts that hide Within it, what went missing, which has left a void inside |

Rick, in all honesty I must say that a person who can write like this, cannot have a total void within them! These words came from someone who has a gift within! Loving hugs, Linda |

Rick, I love this..... especially this part..... My tomb of self is lonely, buried deep; so deep within I mine each day to only mark the places to begin If I succeed, I’ll share with voice, the words I dare not speak For light will fill the shadowed hell that made a mountain weak And I might find a piece of peace amongst the blood and tears Some gentleness and harmony to help me through the years Yes, peace and harmony is there... Gosh Rick, this is a sad side of you, m'friend...you wear pain well...and I'm here to share it with you. We all have something missing, I think. It's part of being human. |

Well, was it just me, or was your meter spot on? Ok, so you've grown in your poetry, in your meter...in your thoughts... SHARE more... Wonderful write here, Rick. At first I wanted to change "quarry" to "query" and then of course, saw that you carried the theme straight through. It always pays to read a good poem twice.... Thank you! |

Hi Dixie, nice to see you here my friend, through a little sadness comes much thought and inspiration, somehow I feel that there is a sadness there trying to get out and it tries through my pen of words. Thanks for sharing and being there. 1slick_lady, thank you for replying, very much appreciated, I believe we all know what emptyness contains to a degree and am also sure we all feel that something is missing, maybe not so often but at times. You know, I haven't seen much in open poetry 42-43 from you, so i decided I would like to read one I haven't read on an older poem! Indeed it was good! ARCTIC WIND |
