I grow
because each morning, she rises like a faithful teacher
revealing to me a new day, replete with treasures
that nourish my mind and make me more
than I was.

I believe
because storm clouds always crumble before her resolve
as rays of golden brilliance slice through the darkness
and dance triumphantly across the ocean’s surface
reflecting a promise.

I love
as she loves the gentle sky who holds her high above all else
when dusk pulls her away, she bleeds tears
of crimson and violet, and her somber sky mourns
drenching all, in pools of black.

I cower
when I look at her, and she glares back at me
like an angry god, reminding me of my insignificance
I run for the shade that I may lose myself in the darkness
and forget that I ever was.

I madden
as her daggers of light rain down upon me
blistering my soul, piercing my mind, and melting
my thoughts into a formless substance that has no name
but rage.

I am
as she is, a creature floating helplessly
between this world and the heavens, but belonging
in neither -- outsiders, surrounded by millions like us
but still mostly alone.

Psalms 20:7 "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."

Absolutely astonishing!!!!!!

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.
