Letting Go of a Stranger
By Larry Chadwick

With your words you create an image of your sadness,
And in my heart I can feel it as if it were my own.
How could someone cause so much pain,
That he could give you feelings until now unknown?

A separation so painful it seems as if you are gone,
Left for another city or perhaps even another land.
I feel as if I’m left here holding a broken hour glass,
While looking for answers at my feet in the sand.

I start to piece together a picture of where you are,
And reach out my hands to offer you a way out.
But you are standing in the dark shadow that he made,
Unable to see there is a hope that will overcome doubt.

So instead of being discouraged by now, I looked ahead,
And settle for the solace that your future did provide.
But it was for the harm caused and the time lost,
That I could not help myself as I stood there and cried.
June 11, 2003

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I can't imagine anyone ever being a stranger to you. Could feel the connection...wayward perhaps, but not severed. Warm hugs my friend.

Sincerely,
Reg

Oh...and I hope the tears washed away some of the pain.  I am glad you realize it is time to look to the future.  It sounds as if the healing has begun.

Great write.

I am ashamed to have missed the earlier responses to this poem.

Dixie,
Thank you for your understanding.

Reg,
Dear girl you are a stranger too often. But missed continually!

Patricia,
Thank you. I found a friend in need and hoped to help focus on the good yet to come in her life.

This write is just wonderful and speaks volumes.  But better yet, many broken hearted ladies reading this will feel as if it were meant just for them.  And I find that the best part of all.

Enjoyed.

very emotional poem, with lots of heart.

ok I know of two people whose situations this fits exactly, and although I can't speak for one of them, from me, I say this: you write beautifully, and the title actually made me cry twice over; you have no idea how true it is. You have no idea how true the poem is.

Thank you dear friend for such generous thoughts. It is encouragement not anticipated.

littlewing,
Not bad...but sad. That's why it is good to look at the hope of a future. And thank you. Peace, hope and courage to you.
