'May into June' Two weeks and much rain the soil of Jersey pregnant with water and although one can find unhappiness for the weather, for the persistence of a grey sky, the grass seems not to mind, the birds appear satisfied, and I have yet to hear a complaint from a farmer this morning, I was pleased in finding a break in the clouds the sun once again naked in the sky and pulling into the driveway I saw a robin scratch the ground for a worm with its beak, a few finches flutter into the hedges, and into the gutter at the corner of this house the dark body of a starling the joy of a starling bathing in rain-water is no different than my own in watching only a longing for the same simplicity that is the thrill of excited wings and tail feathers vibrating against the water the spilling over onto the grass below and the hyper shake before it flew away.
