I was not there through the years you call "hell",
but I hold you in the pools of cold sweat that spill
from clouds with no silver lining
and fill the sleepless hours of night.
I weep with you as you flee from demons
whose faces haunt you in restless torment of past.
I promise you that future will hold no reminder
of days when happiness was not found
behind painted fences and stucco walls.
Walk
with me into the sun and forget the worries
of shadows left behind.
Stand
beside me on an alter of faith
so that you may know the depth of the love
I hold for you.
Rest
upon my vows and relinquish fear,
for I shall defend you with wrath far beyond
the fury of "hell".

Ah...yes, indeed you write a sanctuary of "a soft place to land..."

Someone is VERY lucky to inspire such a write.

sweet Dixie- thank you so much, but please, no tears.

Karen- i have always been a passive sort, and am often surprised by my new found boldness. for some reason i take much greater offense when someone i love is wronged.

Capt.- a compliment indeed coming from a talent such as you. "dumb old country boy"? i think not.

If at first you don't succeed destroy all the evidence that you tried.

Helen- what a joy it is to have you read me!

Dixie- well, as long as that's the case.

Duncan- it's a pleasure to have you here, sir. come back as often as you like.   glad you enjoyed

Kristen- this could have easily been written for you. it took me almost 26 years to find the one who inspired it, so don't give up and accept no substitutes. true love is hard to come by, but it's well worth the wait.

Where were you when I needed someone just like you? Someone to protect me from the big, bad meanie?

If the need ever arises again, would you protect me and my honor? I trust the one who is the inspiration for such a gallant write, is an understanding and compassionate woman...

Enjoyed this write, Ed, very much!

Luvs 'n hugs,
Linda

As someone with more than a passing acquaintance with years called hell... I can only hope she grasps this promise... for then she'll start to live the rest of her life instead of the past. Excellent write of caring! *S*
