Still, More Branches….

And now, I long-leg a walk
after the storm
which came down on my borrowed ground,
too brief, too brief,
not much relief, just a fleeting wash
then gone, in backlight of thundering
flash, drifting southward,

cut-break winds came, too,
as did the need, to swell a lost spirit, to get out,
and breathe in, lift this muse
that had been walled in too many days
from either extreme heat
or dawn to dark work…

and it was good, because now I searched more
than sidewalks or sky, in a new study of branches ~
those johnny come appleseed trees that grace earth,
as I passed underneath,
or bowed my head to limbs still heavy
with thunderdrops

we think branches
only hold leaves, a spring reverie with the
fall bringing chores

but here were red budding curves, in artful
grace,
life forces of
stick-to-it-ive-ness reaching high in
oak leaves gracing young growth,
elms glittering in sunset, and cottonwoods
in shimmer

here were the Kansas pines, softly sighing
as the last winds feathered their edges,
giving ballerinas dance lessons

while each new branch growth held names
of aspiring poets, and such

tender reachings and hangings
as word thought described grace, and
bow

serenity followed me, or leapt before me,
enticing me, write of the walk,
the notice of

branches

Wide smiles...

Sunshine through the branches...

and now serenity is trailing BEHIND, saying, "HEY...Wait up!"

A lovely poem to wake to Sunshine.

Thank you

K...this is exquisite work.  My goodness there is so much I could have quoted here, but when I read the words above...I knew precisely the feeling.

You are one incredible talent, my friend.  My eyes are on you...as I continue to stretch and grow in my own writing.  I have so much to learn.

Smiling at you this morning!

Okay..you talked me into it!
How about we take a long walk this new day
and stretch our legs while looking at the sky
through the branches of the cottonwood..
cause I've never seen a cottonwood...
and maybe if you have a raintree?...
I could see that one too?
Beautiful read this morning...
~Smiles...and I'm gonna go hug a tree!~

Has held me in the same embrace~

I think you have a special relationship/connection with trees ... I always love your words about them very much.

Very beautiful.

Karilea...and you have reminded me how much worth there is in trees, and in your words.
