The Reckoning

On this...today...the skies awake
with tears of heaven
beating down
upon a broken, thirsty ground
where past illusions
come to rest
perverted by the merciless
a lightning strike
a stricken heart
a final blow for all who show
the scars
of accusation's claws
that bare the flaws of no confess
in halo of self-righteousness
injustice
condemnation swift
without the gift
of shadowed doubt
and falsities
are spouted loudly
from the mouths
of those who would believe they know
yet truly do not know at all
and so they fall
these tears of mourn
on this the morn
of judgment day
the truth be learned
the victory earned
by those
who true of heart have stayed
and suffered sting of perfidy
at calloused hands of those
once known as
'friend'

This, although angry in tone, is the voice of pain.

You rival thor for the light of sky in the storm vicky.

Here's a towel.

I do believe you just danced naked between the bolts.

thank you

Powerful writing, dear Vicky! I reckon those who betray their friends are building up huge karmic debts!

Hugs, your friend forever!

Wow...It's as if you are writing about my experience in the past. I only know this. It has made me far more watchful of what people *claim* to be toward me. It's not that I want to be, but once burned seems you always are on guard to a certain extent. Thanks for sharing this. It helps to know someone out there [understands] what it's like. Thanks again for sharing. I know how much this hurts.

Oo-ie.

Or I could just echo everybody else, but that's boring. You know what I mean.
