Last night in the great north woods Spirits rustled tree tops Medicine men and warriors In the virgin pines Lumbermen and killers In the rows of neatly planted trees 3:00 AM in the great north town Only police drive streets I passed two driving to walmart To get some cough syrup To help me sleep Great north nights without sleep Great north nights without sleep Only stars keep company The moon and the stars And the streets lead me on Don't feel much like talking No use talking to stars anyway Or streets |

You have some good strong titles, and always start out from a strong position poetically... If I might, I would like to suggest a spell check before you post your stuff...everyone has made a typo...but it does take the read off track, and you deserve better. You caught my attention with your last write, and I read your site. Smoothing the edges of the thoughts might help communicate more powerfully what you feel and see...I don't mean soften the context, just the delivery... You do have great talent for writing from the heart what most men can never say. TD |

I know we need lumber, but it tears my heart out when I see a tree being cut down. Clear-cutting is tantamount to genocide! I swear I can hear the screams of trees as they are being felled. I was raised in Northern Ontario and I witnessed a lot of "massacres"! Powerful poem. I especially felt the first stanza. Earth Angel |
