When the darkness fell and his eyes went blind his optimism never altering, he knew what living was all about and in his wisdom, he's taught me well. I don't remember ever seeing his tears for pity's sake was not his way his laughter was endless his life held in abundant handfuls. He pictured his children in his arms clearly through his channeled vision framed forever in my memories and the unconditional warmth of his embrace. Making the best of his misfortunes humor me he used to say, how short is that skirt Lori his hands brushing the hem of my heart as we danced across the livingroom floor. Follow in my footsteps let me guide you through life's adversities for they are meant to make you stronger and keep your character in tact. Learn the lessons and pass them down take them with you through the years how well I know them now forever and always in my heart ~I miss you so, Dear Dad~ ~*~ Happy Father's Day to all you good men out there. Celebrate your day!!! [This message has been edited by BluesSerenade (06-15-2003 06:03 PM).] |

Lori, I KNEW you had a good role model! =================================== his hands brushing the hem of my heart =================================== Such an excellent tribute to your father and his character and integrity. I'm impressed. I think I know how much you miss him. Excellent write. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Tuck this away and bring it out when you want to remember the times that these words stir in your heart. Touching write, well done. Psalms 20:7 "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." |

Let me just say, that through all your nice replies, I'm certain that he hears me reading this out loud, I hope so. I remember reading the sports page to him over breakfast, believe it or not, I was somewhat informed in those days. (when I first started keeping stats) ya huh. But no one ever informed me about diabetes, until it was too late. Not that it would have changed anything, except for the fact that I would have understood better, back then. I saw that needle going in enough times, and in my naivety I assumed that's how you deal with it, and make it all go away........wrong. Thanks for allowing me a place to post this, it means a lot to me. Heart hugs and gratitude to those of you who took the time to read me, and for all the passionate support in this forum as a whole. No, it isn't sad ratleader, except that he was gone too soon, before I came into womanhood. Over the years he was told I was the spitting image of my Mother and I wore that like a badge in her honor as well as his. He collected music boxes, like a hallmark card you save forever...so today I wound up "Mack the Knife" hence, a time and place. Thanks for sneaking 'round that corner, ratleader. When the shark bites with his teeth, dear Scarlet billows start to spread Fancy gloves, though, wears MacHeath, dear So there's never a trace of red. There's a tug boat, down by the river, uh huh! and so on and so forth! I love that song, I want to be Bobby's girl, or Jimmy Diver's. *grin* Edder~ On a footnote*~ The doc told my Dad he might never walk again with his seeing eye dog, Hap....due to the prothesis he would wear on his leg. But he did! Thank you Edder. I can't keep coming back to this thread, I am getting way too emotional. Hugs everyone~ (then I come back to edit) lol~ hey, it's my signature. I collect music boxes too, Lori. Darn! I should have picked one out from Ocean City, but you had me so busy I never had a moment to think about it. A beautiful poem, Lori. One you should print out and frame under your Dad's picture. hugs M |
