Lost Soul

The lonely roads I have traversed
In deep and solemn thought
And yet perceive no ray of hope
To problems life has wrought

Weary thus in heart and soul
I sought peace amongst humanity
And found myself on the brink of
The abysmal depths of insanity.

So I turned my back on humanity
To take comfort in solitude
And found I was much better of
At the mercy of the multitude.

But within the shadow of solitude
I sought refuge in spiritual ties
And too late…woke up to find
Heaven - a fool’s paradise.

The heart assailed by doubts and fears
Turns for guidance to the mind
Finds the mind itself in doubt
Agitated, ignorant and blind.

The mind against its own will
Soars on the wings of fantasy
Revels in its own deception
And yet hates this idiosyncrasy.

It fills me with maddening dread
This doubtful frame of mind
Knowing not what reason seeks
Nor what the path will find.

some catchy stanzas here, keep up the writes
they often in themselves shed light as to our capabalities and strengths, the third stanza, third line should have the 'of' removed

Anwaar, you are not a lost soul. You are just finding your way. The day will come when the skies will clear and the sun will shine on the path that you are to take. Trust that this will be so.

Blessings to you, Dear One
Loving hugs and an understanding smile,
EA

Anwaar, this poem makes your readers think.
That's a very good thing. I enjoyed reading.

Of a truth, sometimes the answers are less easy to discover than the questions, though I also find.. sometimes I don't even know the questions...

Some good thoughts here, thanks for sharing

How well I know this!

And so it goes, the inner battle rages on!

Nicely said and done, poet Sir~
