Started from way up high...the village fool out of reach from any common stool with a hammer, a nail and a piece of shoe knocked a piece of sole right through... that fell down again into the house shtetl high sloped roof, charcoal grey shingled close homes surrounded squares..gentry mingled to watch the fool on the roof, not on a hill knock in a nail and then take a spill... The wife soon clambered up a wooden ladder after the two siblings, she'd gotten fatter and her ire had gotten worse as the husband consumed the family purse here he had settled into a popular fate a test of the devotion to his familiar mate So he descended from the house's crown to the dismay of his wife who bore a frown and said Sarah "I'll need a new life for myself, the city offers promise, I can go nowhere else". She packed him a roll of rye bread and fresh meat and the fool from the shtetl roof walked his beat carbon covered roofs he'd leave behind soon to discover what could be heaven's design. continuing [This message has been edited by ecrivan (07-17-2003 10:10 PM).] |
