Free riders cross the states, circles of sunlight illuminate their way. Open roads banded by trees, wind flying through their hair, everything's ok. Deserts of stone and sand rush past, the riders race headlong into the night. Howling wind and coyotes echoing in the dark. The new day brings running waters of crystal, azure skies so bright. Wild mustangs run free, palamino and whites. Camp fires under stars and deep blue velvety night. Crossing steel bridges, spanning wide silver rivers. Amber sun still bathes the riders,as they pass down loneley empty roads, rolling on together. |

This poem certainly made the song of the open road sing to me again. Those stirrings for elsewhere never really die, they just get shunted off to the side temporarily. Thanks for the remembrance of where the detour lies. |

You made me weep for the loss of my iron horse. Good memories though, thank you. |
