Comes Vespertine... |

As vespertine in coolness sweeps …across the distant knoll, Retreats the burn of summer sun, …extinguishing day’s soul. First star of dusk, comes Venus bright, ….unto the dark is calling, Follow me unto the night, …’mid calm of evening’s falling. Across the scape as shadows creep, …the end of day is found, While sings forth hymns of evening’s breeze, …in sweetness sings her sound. In splendor springs forth eventide, …in haze of fading light, Unto the earth a gift is given, …the coming of the night. [This message has been edited by Tim (07-10-2003 11:26 PM).] |

Tim...thanks for this lovely! It is still very hot here, though dark is open. I think I need a swim. |

...and in the night, by cricket song as the Katydids resound from trees ...summer's night seems slow and long to the moon, and stars, and me. [ the sounds of summer will fade soon enough, Tim...when it's zero out, I'm pushing this poem back to the top!] |
