They say if you listen quite close you will hear,
when all other outside intrusions have gone,
the sound of their footsteps, draw ever so near,
as garden gnomes march in the night 'crost your lawn.

An army of millions, mere statues by day,
'neath cover of darkness, they gather as one,
of concrete and wood, terra-cotta and clay,
if you hear them coming you'd darn better run!

Though tiny in stature, no quarter they'll give,
they march to the beat of a different drum.
I'm warning you people, they know where you live,
but, haven't you wondered where they all come from?

They're breeding like rabbits, of that rest assured,
by day they observe us from rock garden rows,
a landscape affliction that cannot be cured,
in darkness they do things that nobody knows!

They say if you listen quite close you will hear,
what some call illusion may put on a show,
but, worse than the marching of gnomes drawing near
is the incessant squawking of pink flamingoes!

So, draw close your covers and leave on the light.
Don't look out your windows, they're next door to you
'mongst dreams that appear in the garden of night
are hideous creatures no worse than these two!

I have to say I didn't exactly expect Ben Johnson seriousnous from this when I clicked on someone who's name was DrMoose, but this exceeded expectations of humour and down right sillyness, thankfully we have no gnomes or plastic pink flamingoes in our garden but I've always been suspicious of them ever since watching the film Amelie. All in all this really hit the spot for me.
