Halfway to the depths of madness Bonded by morbid delusion To the pious faith Of a lifetime Wasted In search of the Mirage of paradise Milton lost so long ago Hollow sacred writ Chained to the shallow Appearance of misguided piety Angels and saints Locked up in porcelain statues Bathed in red candle drippings Enslaved to listen To pleadings of fools Hoping to breach padlocked doors Of eternity Listless pilgrims Waiting for the white model train Bound for nowhere Receiving wooden nickels For good deeds While waiting for a cell In Purgatory's overflowing prison Where Saint Elvis will stick a Shiny gold star On sloped foreheads Of the diluted faithful. |

A religion that's locked inside a church isn't much good, is it? I hope I don't fall so short of what I need to be. I guess now I have to pray a bit, huh? Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Angels and saints Locked up in porcelain statues Bathed in red candle drippings Enslaved to listen To pleadings of fools Hoping to breach padlocked doors Of eternity' hmm, I don't think its the religion locked in a church, but rather eternity is padlocked, meaning unreachable, therefore nonexsistant. What say you Dan? By the way, very thought provoking. I really enjoyed it..... Susan |
