Inner Egypt

I am servile
My breath lingers
Hesitant to assume
For it knows that my life hangs
On your satisfaction

And your every whim
Means my soul’s submission
My capacity emptied
Death’s invitation

Yet my eyes see your greatness
Know that my compliance is genuine
Though begrudging
Selfish
Desperate
Maniacal

And yet I live
And so I serve

Eminor,

There is something about this poem that I can relate to.  I think you know me.  I enjoyed this very much.
