I don't have time to get some links up but wanted to get this going. So far, it hasn't been a good year for me. ): |

The usage of philosophy 1. topic of debate which for the best is killing time. 2. something to think about 3. something to give a sprite echo 4. guidance of life 5. grouping people 6. brain teaser |

Rorty often modified his 'end of philosophy' rhetoric with the simple point that there will always be younger people (new voices) who stumble across Plato or Plantinga, Hegel or Heidegger, Kant or Davidson or Dickinson, Poe (egads!) or Proust and will want voices to help them along. It is perhaps difficult for those who have not read more difficult authors, who decide without reading who to ignore or who to follow, what the interest is, but Rorty always seemed to have faith that a new generation would come and try again. Perhaps I need to have more faith in that generation. [This message has been edited by Brad (06-12-2007 11:12 PM).] |
