Fire in the Sky When light cowers to the darkness And darkness flinches at the sight of light It creates a moment of opportunity for twilight To shine upon a golden treasure That glistens and burns, much like desire; This empty crystalline object of passion, Shoots across the skyline-- In a spectacular vision of fire and ice; It is a blur to the unprotected heart’s eye And as true as the next day, For in all it’s glory It is blind onto itself And as cruel as time kissing the youth; Inevitability is the destruction tool of fate. Smiling proudly and defiantly, It soars to an impact That will leave behind pain and sorrow-- But on this occasion the moon intervenes And shares a bit of its light to awaken ‘love’ Ah, yes! The adversary of the heart… Is now awaiting the sweet climatic embrace of another, And our streaking rock is now afraid, Wary of what could be (to love again) Or what might have been (the breaking of a heart) As tears of neither sadness nor happiness Put out the flames of this comet, Cooling it to a silent end… Marcel |
