While sitting on the patio,
quite suddenly I was in fear.
Pooping pelicans flew over,
I heard KERSPLASH right in my beer!

They're known to knock men off their feet,
because like scatter bombs, they are.
Last year they almost sunk my boat
and you don't want to see the car.

While visiting here by the sea
it's best for you to come prepared.
You think they're only big dumb birds,
but when they bomb, you'll find you're scared.

I'm going to buy a helmet
and build a roof for patio.
It's nice living here on the coast,
but of the dangers, you need know.

This reminds me so much of one of my favorite poems, by Michael Ondaatje (one of my favorite unknown writers), that I'm going to type it out and e-mail it to you.... would quote it here, but it's a bit too, uh, strong for Open....

Anybody else wants it, just drop me an E, and I'll send it to you too....

Love it!

(giggles in delight) I'd say by the looks of it they are very suspicious characters, better stay clear of Joe's Crab Shack! LOL! (big hugggssssss) This is very hilarious, sweet friend, going inland won't help with the pigeons dominating their territory, there's Darwinism for you, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Michael, I really needed this tonight. This
got me giggling from the title on.
I would have quoted some of it, but the
whole thing is delightful. I love it. LOL

Ethel

This is something I never thought of. Maybe I should be glad to be land-locked!

Oh, do I ever know what you mean! I had a family BBQ and a flock of seagulls swooped and pooped on all our food!
Thanx for the memories!--NOT! LOL

Loved the poem!

Warm hugs,
Linda

OHMYGOODNESS, this is so funny!  I've never thought of writing about such a thing, but so glad you chose to!  LOL ) We just got back from the shore, and I thought it was so COOL how the seagulls would flock when you throw food up to them? WELL, it was cool until the poopy started falling down on us like rain!  AAaaaahh!  This was a very light and funny piece - THANKS for the laughs!

Reminds me of when I lived in Long Beach, Calif. and the seagulls were very aggressive...
They don't have seagulls in Hawaii...but they have a few other varieties of birds that mess on your car if you park under certain trees...James
