I'm going to live until I die, the doctor told me so. She didn't like the way I look but told me there was no single thing that she could find, to cut out of my life, that would undo some horrid crime, or fix some mess or hard earned damage I had invested in so many years ago, or numb my dreams or steady my step or give a moment's extra time. I wondered what she meant by that while driving on back home; I suppose I should have asked, but then I might have known of some gang of modern miracles of medical advice; if not a single thing, then what if I'd asked twice? Then even if I asked, my next great hobby would be doctoring and such; hopping from room to room, drug to drug, machine to machine, and back to some damned room and a drugged out intern's fumbled touch; smelling all those vile smells, taking drugs that aren't even fun, waiting for some snot nosed half grown doctor-kid who's always on the run to only god knows where; trying to tell all the white coats the same damned litany of history and opinion, when they ask, but even when they ask they make it clear they just don't care. Icebox, I've got to go to the doctor tomorrow....a needed visit that I've been putting off for months. I simply hate to go to the doctor. My Honey calls me Dr. Ethel, because I'm really bad about doctoring myself. In fact, I'm also really bad about cancelling doctor appointments, too........ Hmmmmmmmmm... Ethel |

You are absolutely the coolest. I hate the doctor too. So, you know what I do? I don't go! Of course, my well meaning friends yell at me. But there is got to be a place where you draw the line. 'Cause, like you said, man, you're gonna live 'til ya die." OK, you didn't say it like that...but I think it shall be my new saying for my well meaning friends...and that's the way I am going to say it. Patricia |

Doctors suck!!!!! They blame everything on you being overweight even if you catch a cold. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....Enjoyed the poem. Cold hands means a warm heart |

I was going to start with a tirade on doctors and how the whole system treats patients..but i think there's restrictions on how many pages a reply can be..great writing ice |

I think you are better off in the long run just passing the gas, (and the mask maybe?) and staying away from the white coats and machines. I also think we should just go have another bottle of wine, loaf of bread, and some fine cheese, and wholesome entertainment.  Hope all is well. |
