Take Back Those Words Take back those words that hurt so much And soothe my soul with honeyed touch There is no need for icy scorn to bite To cloak my soul in endless night A word or two should be all it takes To show me the folly of my mistakes So don’t banish me from heaven’s place Let me feel the hope of its saving grace Don’t thrust my soul into deepest hell Hold me here where I know so well That the light of sunshine falls on me In this place where I want so much to be If I have erred as I know I do Let me sip again from poetic dew My mind can’t stand to feel the pain Of icy words that drip like rain Take my hand in friendships clasp And don’t let me see that cruel mask That shatters my soul with frigid stare Show me instead how much you care My mouth moves in supplicant’s plea Asking that you’ll please forgive me Now let me enter paradise once more Where truth is love and hearts don’t war Take back the sting from words that fell On my sorrowing soul like a death knell Marsha Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

A word or two should be all it takes Yes. *S* And you have a magical way of weaving words. *S* This plea for compassion in the punishment is something we all should remember... for both those times we transgress and those when we're transgressed against. *S* Well done, lady. *S* |

Ms. Mushy! It flows so smooth. How could you be denied? I'm so thrilled you are here! If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

"My mind can’t stand to feel the pain Of icy words that drip like rain" You have a way to soothe with even the harshest of words... This one did flow so smoothly, Marsha hugss M |

Chilly in its production. Would like a smigeon of brandy with your honey? - To warm you up.*grin Keth Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

I feel as if once uttered, the words cannot be retrieved. Oftentimes we forget the power of our voice. Oh, but to take back a fraction of the words I have uttered and have those which have been uttered unto me retrieved, would be a wonderful thing. Forgiveness, I think is think is the best we can hope for in our times of thoughtless voice. Beautiful verse...really made me ponder and wonder...and that to me is the essence of poetry. Patricia |
