Tick Tock... |

It stopped, still as a gravedigger’s shovel as last words are spoken over a hole to never more. The tick waiting, anticipating the tock....which never came. Time now frozen, waiting for the thaw, the telltale drip that once again;;; it tocked. It ticked again, ominous against the silence of a world without movement, the softness of a breeze flowing through leaves... A bird singing a trilling tune...the honks and beeps, cries and screams, countless bells.. Will time ever start? Suspended, inanimate...without motion.... As a universe sits silent among stars that, one by one, dim and blend with the darkness. Like the self winding watch on a dead man’s wrist....8:42.... A.M. or P.M.?? A tomb’s noise a deafening scream compared to a motionless, soundless Big Ben.... Will the tick ever lose the tock? Hear the silence? Tick...... |

This is a powerful piece, Barry. Ominous and haunting. I could feel the suspension, wanting and waiting for the "tick" to resume. I really enjoyed this ... excellent! Best wishes, /Kit |
