Standing precariously,
as winds swirl the doubt of heart
into the abyss of life.  Falling
endlessly toward the unseen peril
of unknown.

Clutching air, grasping for the dim
flicker at tunnel’s end as echoing
cries of desolate despair ring
the rails of a heart’s blood.

Bring to me the hope, for with
the tended grain shall grow a life’s
crop.

Let the chaff fall,  feel the bite of
fear and then vanish into the drear
of fright as buds of courage grow
within the orchard of life’s
fruit.

For I have tasted the sweetness of
victory, the bitter of defeat and heard
the salted wound’s wail.

And still the throb of life leads the
plow upon the narrow row of winding years as
wisdom plants the seed.

Deep furrow in the fields this eve...
The mood well conveyed, by a wise and well traveled quill. Enjoyed. TD

Oh Barry!  I have reread these lines several times.  The throb of life...how perfectly you describe our journey.  It is the sweetness of victory that drives us to continue the journey...hope that amidst the days of defeat, a new shall come to bring us a victory.

This is what I took from your words as that is what my mind and soul needed today.

Thanks, my friend.
