A whiskey moment
seems to be the blame

One shot too many
one shot too few

Its ability to erase the pain
is amazingly quick

But it returns with a vengeance
the very next day

Friends to the end
now I must start again

Lies are scattered at my feet or
are they promises from you

I watch your back
you watch mine

until a Lady plays into the picture
then the knife enters my spine

Your definition of friends
is far from what I was taught

Let us forget and forgive you say
ummm how about NOT!

This is to you a brother so true

Believe it or not I just went through something like this with my best friend of 10 years. We stopped talking for two months over it. Last night we went out for a few drinks...previously, I set the boundaries (she is not allowed to interfere with my decisions...just support the ones I make). Our relationship is better than ever was. I am so happy she is back in my life.

I know what you are going through...Very well written, very well expressed.

Forgiveness is for ones self not for the person to be forgiven, holding onto ill feelings is not good for the soul. Nicely expressed write

Thomas, you write so well that I really can't tell if this is from your own personal experince or not, so I really don't know how to comment about the content.

So, I will just say that the poem is very well-written, as all of your poems I've read are.
