We all took a trip to the cemetery
Just as other friends and families do,
It found us gazing down on her marker
Our heads were bowed in a prayer or two.

I placed a lily on the grave
Where a dancer’s graceful body lay,
Tears welled up as I spoke to her,
Then I quickly had to run away.

I don’t know what possessed me,
I turned 'round to see an awesome sight …
Filtering through the trees above her grave
Shone the brightest, radiant light.

My soul was so struck by that beauty
For me, time froze standing very still.
I absorbed such wonderful memories,
Until my spirit had its fill.

Was Willow sending me a message?
No, then I smiled and realized,
The warmth of her was in my heart,
Where she will never, ever die.

Each of us will leave this plain,
But we’re never really that far away,
We’ll always hear those who miss us,
As they bow their head and they pray.

For Willow With Love

This is absolutely lovely.  I could probably quote the poem in its entirety...but this stanza was my favorite:

I don’t know what possessed me,
I turned 'round to see an awesome sight …
Filtering through the trees above her grave
Shone the brightest, radiant light.

I have seen this light, and it is most beautiful.  I have longed to see it again...I must find the time to walk the path where I had seen it a few years ago.  I think of it often, but my life has changed so much recently that I do not have the time.  Guess what? After your reminder, I will make that time...this week!  And I think, too, I will see something beautifully new is this light because of your words.

Do you all have any idea of just how you warmed my heart today.  Sundays are very sad for me as Willow (Jenna) phoned me every single Sunday from the time she moved from Winnipeg and joined her first ballet tour in 1965 until the the last few weeks before she died in 2001 so that is over 35 years of calls.  I find Sundays are so tough and they always cause tears.  I am crying as I write to thank you all.  Well I hope at least when I write about her that you too will think lovingly of someone you lost in fondness too.  Thank you so very much.

Mysteria, that is one of the most tender and loving poems I’ve ever read. I’m sure your daughter Willow was the most amazing and wonderful person. My heart truly goes out for you. What a caring and loving tribute of a Mother’s love for her child. This sincerely touched my heart.

My deepest blessings to you,

Richy

I have said before, that she is your most giving muse and will always be,and forgive me for repeating myself,  but reading this beauty reminds me of how sweet both the release and the inspiration is.
The love is boundless and timeless.
And you know I understand.

Im still imagining your voice ...
can see the sparkle in your eyes.
I cant explain your power over me
Its understated understood & beautiful.

James Michael - thank you so much.
Richy - How sweet of you, however Willow was a childhood friend and more like my soul sister than my child.  The love of her was as deep though, thank you.
Janet Marie - Yes, I do know you know and that is such a comfort.  Thank you.

Sharon~
What a beautiful and loving tribute this is.
You do some of your best writing when you write of Willow.

And this...

"The warmth of her was in my heart,
Where she will never, ever die."

Much truth in these words, my friend.

Hugs to you,
~Vicky

Oh, Sharon, this is such a heart warming poem of our spiritual connection with one another. WE do truly miss those who pass away, but how magnificent when their essence pours over us. THis is such a lovely tribute to Willow and to love and friendship
