There in the fog of moor and dewy swamp a bump is felt to chill the timid spine. Where fear resides among the cypress knees and warning signs illuminate the line. As eyes of orange do glow within the light among the waters flowing dark and dank. A sudden shift in balance to the right brings danger to three lives as their boat sank. A cry of fear upon the waters black awoke two eyes now open to inquire. The stalk unseen as ripples disappeared in tannic waters of this putrid mire. They swam through lilies full of deadly snakes as stench of death now slid right up their back. And while wet clothes gave all of them the shakes a fire was built to light the darkness black. For in the dark beyond the flicking flame a creature walked the waters of the bog. And hunger grew to start a killing game among the knees within the rolling fog. The morning brought a calm to all the land as creatures slept in places never seen. All they found was a single severed hand among the flowers of the lilies green. The story told a thousand times or more around the fire within the swampy mire. And no man dares these places to explore beyond the light of flaming, roaring fire. For on a sign not seen by all who came a list was placed for all the missing lives. And though there were more than a hundred names The creatures rest till when the next arrives. You have just made my next trip to the Everglades a little creepier, Barry. Thanks a lot! ![]() |
