Sleep eluded me last night, Isn’t this a an old refrain? Sleep is a gift unappreciated until one loses it. Some do yoga to relax, stay focused and interconnected. be mindful and aware of self is all there is to it. And so I tried to lay me down as if I were a placid lake, keeping my mind on everything in my waters, and above.. But myriad thoughts played endlessly; a record broken and set loose, that made me wish I should have been a mindless inert rag. I filled my mind with willful strength to stand atop a mental cliff let sink into a dark abyss and maybe get to sleep. Still I was sleepless in my mind, more conscious of the ebb and flow of images disturbing calm and mindlessness of thought. I woke up with my eyes still shut, my mind aware that day was near, reminding me that being wakeful is no gift. Sleep is. |
