Each careful touch with pauses placed
from heartfelt thoughts of lives erased.
As Taps are blown the bugle’s song
a tear appears from weak, from strong.

A tear of sadness, tear of loss
Tear of remembrance, of life’s cost.
Quiver of cheek, a sniffle dried
for all that gave, for all that died.

Many departed to not return
from lands of terror, bodies burned.
From cliff side graves of shallow fill
and hurried prayers, of those who kill.

They came to free, they came to save.
From birth of morn to waiting grave.
They gave a soul, that I might leave
a thought, a hope, a moment’s grieve.

The beaches bled, the volleys flew
from cannon red, from snipers too.
And as the sun did set the land
they fought, they fought...a gallant stand.

A flag unfurled across deep seas
in honor of life’s liberties.
Where many fell, as others cried
American born, filled with our pride.

As nations strong remember them,
a bugle plays a warrior’s hymn
and to the graves of those in rest
I give my heart, my soul, my best.

And I freely cried...

May your "Taps" be on tap every Memorial Day. Simply superb in content and in poetic form.

Warm hugs,

I've never heard it played that it didn't bring tears to these cheeks.

To pause and reflecton this on this day on the supreme sacrifices made by others is a small request...in light of the gift they gave us..

believe in what your heart feels...

Hi Barry, you know there’s not many things in life as noble and as brave, as sacrificing your life for your country.
Giving all that you have, and ever will.

Thank you Barry, for honoring all those that gave their final breath. In the hopes, of better ensuring our safety, and our freedoms.

In my eyes, this poem of yours, is an American Classic. And you Sir, are a very special American, who I am very proud, if even in the slightest way, to be associated with.

And it is with great honor today, to say to you...

I salute you, my friend

Sincere Blessings,

Richy

This write touched me as I wrote it, deeply.
In it's simplicity....it still does.  And,
for the record...I am a vet.  a proud one
and I gladly served my nation.  I would
again...

RMCM(SS) USN Retired. 1967-1992....

Thanks to all of you...and in my meager
and humble way,  thank you to all who gave
their lives and freedom that we might have
that which has been given us so unselfishly.

(big hugggsssssssss) I too both grieve and honor their sacrifices that these bold soldiers made, and I hope that in the very near future no more sacrifices will ever be made like this again and we can all act like soldiers without guns...reflecting...rising...making peace to one another freely! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, they are all in my thoughts and not solely on this day, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

There is never a time that Taps will not reach into my heart, and shake loose the dam.
Wonderful tribute. TD

May God bless our vets, and those who have died for our freedom.
