Tender of the Drink What will it be is that two or three of the finest shots of liquor I’ll serve them up you slam them down and make my wallet thicker To the brim I fill your mug till 2a.m. I watch you chug and see you now get sicker Throwing up those rounds of ale your peaked face now turning pale but now here comes the kicker Pouring in that liquid sin I’ve watched it eat you from within till it’s too much for your ticker Your soul it sighs, your heart is crys it’s no surprise, the life in your eyes now begins to flicker You drank too much you foolish bar fly yes young and old we’re all gonna die but you will go much quicker Hahaha! I am the tender of the drink causing countless souls to sink into holes with walls grievously slicker Than many many think...... |

I am the tender of the drink causing countless souls to sink into holes with walls grievously slicker ~*~ The bartender is the cause? I disagree... he didn't go out and drag 'em in... but you do leave a lot of room for thought, Joe... I just hope you have a designated driver standing around! |

Joe, you are beginning to worry me! You did a great job with the poem, but I hope the content is just poetry! In my profession, I have seen far too much death and destruction from drinking. Sorry to sound so heavy, but I truly have seen first-hand how drinking destroys lives, families, careers... I may be over-reacting to your poem, but I do have concerns considering where I am coming from. Warm hugs, Linda |

Earthangel: rest at ease that I am well aware of the power of the drink and I am in no danger of becoming an alcoholic =). I wrote this poem in the mind set that drinking is something that should be done in moderation and not abused. It was memorial day weekend so yes I did kick back a few with some friends but don't worry I know my limits.....I'm fine but thank you for your concern. =) Joe |
